Description
This is a panoramic triptych that I put together of my three newest watercolor pieces in the "Don't Fence Me In" series.
I have always had a fascination for wild horses and the symbolism of the historic
and pioneer spirit of the West that they represent.
What a thrilling experience to be able to see a herd roaming
the desert floor or near a mountain range!
These paintings evolved from a recent trip through southern Arizona
where we enjoyed the beauty of the Dragoon Mountains that are
so unusual and peppered with the soap tree yucca around every turn.
Then you see the Dos Cabezas range near Wilcox, Arizona and
are reminded of the State Song, "I Love You Arizona", written
and sung by Rex Allen, Jr. whose film star father was from that area.
I merely put all the elements together to portray the freedom that the
wild mustangs still can enjoy in the wilderness. Hopefully, that will
never change and future generations will still be able to view these
magnificent creatures.
May they never be "fenced in"!
